Artificial intelligence has disrupted almost every aspect of our lives, from how much we pay for insurance to whether we’re interviewed for a dream job. It’s used by courts to determine bail and by governments to allocate health funding. But are the algorithms powering this new technology fair, or do they reflect the biases of the (mainly white, male) humans who designed them? AI promises a smarter, more automated future. But is there a risk that we sleepwalk into a dystopian world where the Computer Says No?
