Palak Chana dal is my favorite variety of lentil, and together with spinach with a wonderful blend of spices in this dish, makes for a very wholesome, nourishing meal. Palak chana dal, is an easy, approachable, and flavorful dal. Palak chana dal is a healthy and nutritious dal made with spinach leaves and chana dal. Palak is rich in iron and chana dal is highly nutritious and equally rich in proteins, calcium, iron and B vitamins. Its porridge-like thick, creamy texture is incredibly homey, but it’s the combination of spices and aromatics, fried in ghee or oil, that make this dish come alive with flavor. While you can certainly eat it with a spoon, it’s even better to tear off a hunk of roti or naan and scoop up some of the dal. A few notes on some of the more unusual ingredients.
