This is video #147 in my Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days playthrough. On Day 304, Roxas departs on Mission 78 to eliminate a massive Heartless in Never Land. He arrives in a new area, the ominous Skull Rock.
As soon as he arrives, Tinker Bell shows up to sprinkle him with fairy dust and point him in Hook's direction. On the island to the north, Smee is digging again for Hook. And this time, it seems that the two pirates have struck their treasure. However, it is emanating darkness. It transforms into a massive Heartless, the Ruler of the Sky! Uh oh! Run, Hook and Smee, run!
As the Ruler of the Sky flies over, Roxas and Pete notice each other. Seems like Pete has been trying to form a Heartless army, and Roxas has been interfering with those efforts. So sorry, Pete. ;-)
But now Roxas has to deal with the main boss of Never Land, the Ruler of the Sky. At first, the Ruler will just fly around the area, mostly ignoring Roxas. It will, however, do two attacks. One of its attacks is making icebergs appear from the water. The other attack is water shots from its tail, which will likely hit Roxas if he is following too close. Its tail has four segments, and the first order of business is to destroy all four segments. The tail can be hit with keyblade attacks or Fire.
After each of the first three tail segments is destroyed, the Ruler of the Sky will go berserk, darting around the area and laying out water shots which will home in on Roxas. This is the most dangerous part of the fight. The best way to avoid damage seems to be going down to water level and flying evasively to avoid the water shots. When this thing goes berserk, it is also important to stop targeting the Ruler. When the Ruler has finished going berserk, it will dive into the water. When it emerges, it will spray coins from the treasure chest at Roxas. When it is done with this, it will float still for a moment, leaving its tail vulnerable.
After the last tail segment is destroyed, the Ruler of the Sky's pattern will change. It will fly around more slowly, firing water shots at Roxas and causing icebergs to appear form the water. After a while, it will stop in midair and start shooting more coins. When it is done shooting, it will halt long enough for Roxas to do a couple of combos to the big red jewel in its chest. But back off before it starts swiping at Roxas with its bladed wings. After it is done swiping, there will be a little more time to give it a hit.
An amusing cutscene will take place when the battle is over. In its death throes, the Ruler of the Sky will crash into the pirate ship and knock down all the masts! Tinker Bell even gets a couple of yuks in.
After issuing a threat, Pete runs off. What indeed does he want a Heartless Army for? That's a good question, Roxas.
Before returning to the dark portal, Roxas can grab the Ordeal Badge on the island northwest of the starting island, the Ordeal Blazon in the water past the island just south of the starting island, and the Unity Badge in the air just east of the starting island.
After RTCing, Roxas heads up to the usual spot in Twilight Town, but neither Axel nor Xion is there. I guess that's why Day 301 was named "Vacant Place."
The mission rewards include Blizzaga, Power Tech+, and Silver. There are some good random rewards, as well.
Next, the day advances to Day 321, "Waning Power." As the day begins, Roxas seems to be dreaming about the the first scene that took place between Sora and Riku at the Rising Falls on Hollow Bastion. Then, he wakes up with a tear coming from one of his eyes. He has no idea how it happened.
In the Grey Area, Xigbar has a little challenge for Roxas. If Roxas earns at least 150 points during Phil's training during Mission 46, Xiggy will reward him with a Freezing Crystal.
Xion observes that Roxas doesn't look too good. It's just a bad dream...
Thank you for watching!
