I decided to create this video because I couldn’t find any recommended tire pressures and first-hand experience. I also didn’t have much time to play with the tire pressures on the street.
“According to DUNLOP’s website the GPR 300 is a well-balanced sport performance tire and value, and because bikes are meant to lean over.”
Limited Street Experience
I got the bike used (☻) with 80 plus miles, took it for a spin in a nearby canyon and it performed very well at 33 psi front and 31 psi rear. The GPR 300 may perform better at other PSI.
Track Experience
This bike is new to me so my 1st priority is to feel the bike, I’ve installed a Woodcraft rearset GP shift and clip-ons to suit my riding style and comfort. It’s been a long time since my last trackday and I was super excited that I forgot the bike is still in break-in period. The bike performed well and it was by far one on my best trackdays.
1. First session - the bike felt good but the rear was washy and felt all over the place.
2. Second session - I’ve decided to increase the rear pre-load two clicks out (2 more adjustments to max) and it felt great and used it for the remainder of the day. Not sure if the previous owner adjusted the pre-load but I increased one that left it two more adjustments to max out. This is the only adjustability
Conclusion
The tires are great for sport riders and commuters alike, this will perform well on canyons and street as described by Dunlop. I would also recommend this for first or few trackdays, but as you pick up pace and improve your skills the tires may not hold up. My front left tire has some tear. There are few variables; suspension, tire pressure, and track that may have cause this tear. I’ll post an update when I know.
The front suspension is non-adjustable, I felt more planted on 29/27 psi (COLD) and lastly turns 7, 6, 16 and 13 are heavy left turns.
