📍 Husafell Canyon Baths 🇮🇸 ⬇️ For Info
Things to do in Iceland….
The Husafell Canyon Baths are natural hot springs formed by geothermal activity in Iceland. Over time, water from deep underground rises to the surface, bringing with it minerals and heat. As the water emerges, it creates pools and streams, forming the beautiful natural baths that visitors can enjoy today. These hot springs are a result of Iceland's unique geology and geothermal activity, making them a special attraction for both locals and tourists.
Three geothermally-heated stone pools of varying temperatures (30-41°C or 86-105°F), have been made here, along with a cold-water pot and a cooling waterfall, using traditional methods and materials. The Canyon Baths are an extremely peaceful and relaxing place too, as they allow no more than 16 visitors at a time.
You can only get here by booking a tour with a local guide - we booked through Tripadviser through a full day tour called: Lava Waterfalls, Sagas & Unique Canyon Baths - Small Group Tour booked through Tripadviser ran by nice Travel
But you can book just this tour alone on the canyon baths website or through Get Your Guide etc
We met our guide at LeHúsafell Activity Centre who drove us to the trailhead in the remote highlands of Iceland then walked down to the canyon baths. As it was the end of March, paths were icy so crampons were needed especially walking down the 70 steep steps to the baths.
Throughout the drive and walk (which is classed as easy… it was!) our guide told us all about the area and the history of the baths. He walked us around the different pools, handed out free towels to use and showed us to our changing rooms - separate rooms for male and female including toilets. There are showers there but they were frozen and couldn’t be used. We also had the opportunity to purchase drinks too!
We absolutely LOVED the canyon baths and would 100% recommend going there. The tour lasted around 2hrs all together.
Would you like to go here? Or if you’ve been, what’s your thoughts?
Daily vlogs were filmed and will be up on my YouTube channel in a few weeks: Clairegoeswhere
