In this video essay I talk about our cultural obsession with teen dystopias and children suffering to save the world, from a marketing and narrative perspective, looking at the flaws in some popular works and taking a deep dive into the psychology of Shinji and Asuka in Evangelion and Ellie in the Last of Us to understand what the trauma of saving the world would really look like.
