West Point Organist Craig Williams plays Jean Langlais' "Song of Peace," composed and published in 1945, at the close of World War II. This is found in his collection "Neuf Pièces" (Nine Pieces), which has other works reflecting songs of other moods in the aftermath of the war, along with some challenging chorale preludes. "Chant de paix" is one of Langlais' most popular pieces, using a simple registration of organ strings in the hands accompanied by an ascending melody played by a 4' flute in the pedal. This is counterbalanced by other flutes in the hands. Adding bass to the pedal on the last chord provides a profound ending in G Major.
