Lunpa was built in a place with defence in mind and fortified to make it even easier to be defended from external attack. Ruled by the evil hearted thief Dodonpa, he has a large group of henchmen at his disposal that are mostly brigands and lowlifes. He currently has Master Hammet as a prisoner, extorting ransom money from Kalay with no intention of ever releasing him. All the while, the people of the village don't see any of the money from his ill-gotten gains trickle down to them and what's worse, now the village is shut to outsiders on account of Hammet being their prisoner.
All in all, it's not a great situation. Fortunately, now that we have the cloak ball we can try to rescue him and possibly teach the master thief a lesson at the same time.
Rescuing Hammet is entirely optional, requiring you to backtrack quite a bit and go through a dungeon with some interesting puzzles that force you to repeat the whole thing if you mess it up. To compensate for that, it's not too long and cloak isn't an expensive spell. In the long run, it's definately worth going to rescue Hammet as you'll gain some really good rewards for doing so as well as freeing the leader of Kalay from imprisonment. I wouldn't be surprised if some people completely missed out of on rescuing him however, on account of it being so far away from the place where you get the item to facilitate it. Being able to go to Lunpa is a big clue however, especially if you head there right after getting Mia. You won't be able to get into the fortress itself, but you'll be given a hint as to how to do it for when you can.
