I rather enjoyed the first Republic Commando book! I think it serves as a standalone story, and I appreciated that Traviss humanized the four clone commandos. However, I did not have the same feelings about the passive, whiny Jedi Padawan, or how Traviss chose to approach the clone's sped-up aging...
