Million households were left without electricity in France on Thursday morning as Storm Ciaran struck western Europe overnight, bringing some of the highest wind speeds the region has witnessed in decades.
Based on computer model projections, the storm could set records for the lowest air pressure readings recorded in this region, as it reaches maximum intensity while it crosses the southern U.K.
