1903 The end of the Turkish empire is a decade close. The Balkan nationalism rises and craves for land while Bulgarian and Greek claims collide. 2 decades prior to the great Ponitc Greek colonising of Macedonia, theese mountins are alien to the Greeks. But the Greeks are favoured by the Ottoman Turks. They tolerate their armed terrorist groups and the Greek clergy, as bad as an inquisition tribunal. The Hellens are inspired by the romantic ideea to revive the Byzantine Empire, this time under the Greek rule.
Not so fast or maybe too peacefull to have the same nationalistic boost, the natives of the land, the Vlachs will bear the grunt of the fighting. With houses burnt and relatives killed, they start defending their lands and their lives. The image depicts leaders of the national Aromanian fight in the Vodena- Veria region, fighters for an equal and free Macedonia.

Sterie Cusa, the comunity leader and Gh.Celea, the battlehardened teacher, would later lead most Aromanians to safe heaven in Romania, after 1923 when 140 000 Greek colonists poured in the region. Today, the rains fell and the scum has been washed away to cities like Veria. Only the Aromanians live in theese montins, few but stout.
