Mike Nekta Showing a 98% Completed Diamond Engagement ring .
In this case I was working with a tight deadline and I did what we had to do to meet the client requirements.
Depending on the Centerstone the value of the ring me very.
The challenge was to get the smaller higher quality time in to fit in the existing ring. Normally this would be easy but this desing required a head that is totally encrusted with micro pave set small Diamonds. That had to be customer built .
1 plan the project and take measurements
2 desing head in CAD software
3 have 2 3D printers print 4 models overnight ( this is done As a precaution In case any of them don’t need quality control we wouldn’t lose time making a new one)
4 Cast all four heads in white gold overnight.
5 inspect and clean all polish heads . Choose the best head out of the 4
6 remove old head , install new head
7 set all the small diamonds
8 polish Rhodium
9 inspect
10 shipping to client
Creating the new head and setting over 100 small diamonds in by hand takes time was done overnight .
I planed ahead and sent one of my diamond setters to a local hotel to sleep most of the afternoon while the casted Head was being cleaned up. We sent his wife flowers, and promised to take her understanding into consideration when she is Due for an diamond ring upgrade.
While the rest of team went home the well rested diamond setter Benito started micro pave setting at the factory. all the diamonds were set by the next morning .
Anyway the truth is I live for these types of challenges you got it done right in time for the four day deadline.
I do Prefer to build Rings from scratch when I’m giving enough time. But I’m also able to think outside the box and improvise an absolute emergencies.
It was fun and exciting .
