DARPA is creating a nuclear-thermal propulsion rocket. DRACO, which stands for Demonstration Rocket for Agile Cislunar Operations, is the name given to the program. The strategy converts liquid fuel into a gas using intense heat from a fission reactor, which is then directed via a nozzle to power the spacecraft. According to NASA, this form of propulsion is three times more effective than chemical rockets and can produce greater thrust. As a result, less fuel will be required to be carried on board, which will allow for the transportation of more supplies and other equipment to the surface of Mars. Stay connected for more updates.
