When should you be screened for cervical cancer?
Well, it depends on your age and risk type.
Women ages 21 - 29 should have a Pap test (Pap smear) every three years.
Women between the ages of 30 - 65 can either have Pap smears every three years OR Pap/HPV co-testing every 5 years OR HPV testing every 5 years
In addition to routine exams, the HPV vaccine is a critical way to help protect against HPV infections that most commonly cause cancer.
Make sure to talk to your provider about when to schedule your next Pap smear and cervical cancer screening. It can save your life.
