For this year's 25 carols of Christmas, I'm bringing back my favorite arrangement, this time on Pedal harp! Wisemen from the east? Sounds like a perfect match for Tchaikovsky’s “Arabian Dance”! Sheet music available now! (Camels not included)

If I were bringing gifts to a new mother, I’m definitely including some coffee!
My father used to sing me this carol and I always loved how the minor and major modes played in and out of the verses and chorus. Referencing the “Wiseman from the East” in Matthew Ch 2, the lyrics have each king describes how his gift of gold, frankincense or myrrh fits the character of who Jesus would grow up to be.
But when I wanted to arrange this carol, I wanted to explore the character of the wisemen–I was playing Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite and realized that “the East” meant through “Arabia” or the same area that inspired the Arabian/Coffee Dance. I started mixing the classical and the carol melodies and they went together like coffee and cream! The drone patterns and grace note ornaments inspired by Tchaikovsky, balance a modal flair with the joyful hope of the carol, a thematic overlap that is distinctly We Three Kings but with the flavor of coffee.
Get this arrangement to stand out in the Christmas carol landscape at Christmas events, background, churches. It fits lever or pedal harp and is perfect for students needing some fresh inspiration or any harpist needing to inject some caffeine into their repertoire! Or add it to your holiday playlist on iTunes or Spotify

We Three Kings
We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar,
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
Following yonder star.
Refrain:
Star of wonder, star of light,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.
Born a King on Bethlehem's plain,
Gold I bring to crown Him again.
King forever, ceasing never,
Over us all to reign.
[Refrain]
Frankincense to offer have I;
Incense owns a Deity nigh.
Prayer and praising, voices raising,
Worshiping God on high.
[Refrain]
Myrrh is mine; its bitter perfume
Breathes a life of gathering gloom;
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying,
Sealed in the stone-cold tomb.
[Refrain]
Glorious now behold Him arise;
King and God and Sacrifice.
Alleluia, Alleluia,
Sounds through the earth and skies.
[Refrain]
