A young girl's apparent suicide shines a spotlight on her family in this uncompromising, award-winning Greek drama.
During her grim and uneasy birthday party, 11-year-old Angeliki (Chloe Bolota) falls to her death from the balcony of an Athens flat. An investigation then begins into what her family insists was an accident. The balding nondescript, unnamed patriarch (Themis Panou) tells authorities that neither he nor the dead girl's mother Eleni (Eleni Roussinou) had any reason to believe that Angeliki was depressed. But it becomes clear that this outwardly conventional clan is anything but normal. Shocking secrets are soon revealed. A daring and creepy portrait of domestic tyranny, Alexandros Avranas's timely, unsettling drama has been highly acclaimed by critics. It also won the Best Director and Best Actor awards at last year's Venice Film Festival. Next to Giorgos Lanthimos's Oscar-nominated 'Dogtooth', this is another landmark in New Greek Cinema.
