This is pretty cool. Especially for those who do narration, voiceovers, technology training videos, and the like. And especially those like me who don't like to read a pre-written script when recording videos or explanation sessions.
So for all of you out there like me that must clean up their audio after recording, this is an awesome tool to be able to speak comfortably in a natural speaking voice and then quickly clean it up - as if you were editing a Word Doc!
The company that makes SnagIt (a snapshot/screen capture program) and Camtasia (a simple video editing program) @techsmith TechSmith, has recently launched their new program: Audiate.
The program allows you to edit your audio simply by clicking the words. When selecting the words you can:
- delete the audio (for instance if you made an error)
- edit the transcript
That second option is the really helpful. This way you have a full transcript and captioning for your video done and accurate!
Beyond the words, Audiate can help you remove all your ums and ahs and ers....
If there are long.......... unneeded.... pauses, those can quickly be removed too with a click of the button.
There are other neat features straight out of the gate.
I only played with it briefly to create another one of my videos on my youtube channel @TheCrowdtraining If you are curious to see the end product on how I used Audiate in that project, check out the Puns and Dad Jokes video.
Audiate is going to change my workflow some, but I think more efficiently in the long run. I plan to use it longer than the 7 day trial offered. In a month or two, I can record another review to let you know if I still like it as much as my initial take. Cheers!
