Elephant Dance at Earth Day!
Ellie the Elephant is a Human Powered, Fully Mechanized Giant Puppet Creature made from reclaimed materials by artist: Kricket Caffery, in Portland, OR USA.

Ellie the Elephant requires only 1 operator however, 2-3 "handlers" (assistants) are also required for navigation and safety.


Functionality:
Ellie the Elephant's legs "walk". The operator's legs are the front legs inside the cart contraption, and the back legs are mechanically operated from the front.

When the operator is not inside, there are alternate front legs that fold down from inside so Ellie can remain standing.

Additionally, the tail wags, the ears flap, the eyes look left/right, the mouth opens and closes, and the trunk even curls.

Ellie the Elephant took about 5 months to construct.
