Steep turn technique in a Piper Cherokee 140 for my private pilot flight review in November 2020. When I was a student pilot I found this steep turn technique made the steep turn easier so I wanted to create this Pilot Vlog with a cockpit view showing how to do a steep turn using the technique I learned in as a student pilot. Hopefully at least one student pilot will find this steep turn technique helpful.
I know that many private pilots differ on their techniques for steep turn flight maneuvers and some pilots that watch this Pilot Vlog flying video would disagree or have different methods. For me the easiest way to execute a steep turn in a Piper Cherokee 140 is to add 100rpm and four turns up trim as I am going into the turn. This seems to stabilize the aircraft’s sink rate and hold a steady altitude. In most of my steep turns I am able to execute this technique which allows me to loosely hold onto the yoke - the aircraft is turning itself.
In this Pilot Vlog fying video I was flying a club Piper Cherokee 140 single engine aircraft out of my home airport of Goose Creek Airport south of Charlotte North Carolina. My old CFI with whom I learned to fly was my private pilot flight review instructor. It was nice flying with my CFI - it’s been about two years since we last few, which would have been my last flight review.
I will be uploading more Pilot Vlog flying videos from my 2020 private flight review. Be sure to subscribe to my channel to get the latest updates! I hope you enjoyed this flying video!
