The DuPont State Recreational Forest in Western North Carolina is filled with trails and stunning waterfalls. The 10,473 acre park was created in the late 1990's when the state of North Carolina purchased the land from the DuPont Chemical Company. The main attraction are the waterfalls most of which are an easy hike from public parking areas.
