On 1st August 2022, UK House at The Commonwealth Business Hub explored Data Driven Healthcare at The Exchange in Birmingham's Centenary Square. Bruntwood Director of Strategic Partnerships & Impact, Jessica Bowles joined one of the day's panel discussions.
Here are our key takeaways from the day ⬇️
📈 We are still on a journey to discover how we can use the huge amounts of data now available to us most effectively, specifically when identifying and finding solutions for healthcare inequalities.
🤝 When addressing healthcare inequalities it’s not about translation - we need to tap into the strengths of the communities that we aren’t reaching. It’s the people in these communities who have the most sustainable and innovative ideas for the ways forward.
🤳To drive innovation we need to continue to collaborate locally, regionally and globally and utilise the intersection of pharma, health and tech. But we also need to become more citizen centric and focus on reducing inequalities to ensure we are achieving the same outcomes for all. It’s about building trust in society and finding solutions for our communities.
We heard how Birmingham is best-placed to create the data sets that are inclusive and diverse, which in turn enables researchers and clinicians across both the science and tech sector to drive innovations within data driven healthcare that can directly benefit all patients.
This - alongside the unique set of partnerships between universities, the NHS, government bodies and businesses and our development of Birmingham Health Innovation Campus - makes Birmingham a real life science opportunity zone.
