Kenwood GE-1100 graphic equalizer, apparently made in the late 80s into the mid 90s. 12 bands, high gain on each, great VFD display — and reverb! Components inside this unit indicate it from around 1988. This model has been on my eBay watch list and last weekend on vacation when having a “bunch” of beers with some friends, I placed a lowball rogue bid and woke up to an accepted offer for what I feel was a steal.
While I don’t want to give too many secrets away, if you keep watching for what you’re looking for eventually you will find it at the price you want. And don’t be too picky with dust and scratches, look at the pictures close and ask questions.
That said, it cleaned up nicely and is quite a performer. I’m not a huge fan of reverb in and of itself, I really only like the sound of spring reverbs in musical equipment. I’ve been wanting this in my collection because it’s an interesting unit.
Here it is, in action. They don’t make anything like this anymore, and it’s got a great set of selections and options and inputs.
