Today we're going to unbox, setup, and playtest an inexpensive laptop and try it out with Cricut Design Space. I got a brand new ASUS Vivobook Go -- it's an Ultra Thin Laptop with a fourteen inch Display, an Intel Celeron Processor, four gigibytes of RAM, sixty four gigabytes of disk space and Windows 11. This technically meets the requirements for Cricut Design Space at the time I'm making this video, and the requirements are that it has Windows 10 or later, an Intel processor, 4 gigabytes of ram, 2 gigabytes of free disk space, a USB port or Bluetooth connection, and a big enough display resolution. Now I got this laptop for just $158 on Amazon -- yes, I said $158. You can see the exact one I got on Amazon at https:// jennifermaker.com/asuslaptops -- it's the first one on the shopping list. I added a couple of other ASUS laptops to the list, too, in case you wanted more options.
One of the VERY important things to note about inexpensive laptops like this is that they almost always come with Windows in S mode. S mode is a version of Windows that's streamlined for security and performance, while providing a familiar Windows experience. To increase security, it allows only apps from Microsoft Store, and requires Microsoft Edge for safe browsing. But Cricut Design Space is not IN the Microsoft Store, so what happens is people get an inexpensive laptop and then can't figure out how to get Cricut Design Space ... because Windows is in S Mode and often they don't even realize it. This is a problem for SO many crafters, but I can help!
How to get out of Windows S Mode:
1. Go to Settings
2. Select System
3. Select Activation
4. Under "Switch to Windows 11 Pro," click Go to the Store
5. Click "Get"
