In the years since the Grass Valley area bustled with gold mining activity, the community, as it's known today, has taken shape. That’s why a grassroots effort has formed in Grass Valley to prevent gold mining from making a comeback. “The downtown itself has become a cultural and scenic destination," said Traci Sheehan, coordinator with the MineWatch campaign. “People flock to Grass Valley to experience the quaint downtown and the wineries.”
