Emma Donoghue has earned her living as a writer since the age of twenty-three. She has authored eight works of fiction, five literary history books, and drama for the stage and radio; created a short-film; and developed and was featured in her own documentary. Donoghue's international bestseller novel, Room, was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize.
Other awards include the Stonewall Book Award, Ferro-Grumley Award for Lesbian Fiction, and the Golden Crown Literary Award. She has taught creative writing for the Cheltenham Literary Festival and the Arvon Foundation, and has been a writer-in-residence at the University of Western Ontario and the University of York. Donoghue is a member of the Society of Authors and the Writer's Union of Canada. She hails from Dublin, Ireland, and currently resides in Ontario.
