Kelli Meyer, M.Ed. CCC-SLP Certified & Licensed Speech Language Pathologist
This video is to help reduce dysfluent speech patterns for children, teens and adults who stutter.
Types of stutters:
Block- hard time getting a word out
interjections - um, and
word repetition - repeating the same word over and over again
phrase repetitions - "and then, and then, and then we"
#1) reduce distractions - increase eye contact
#2) melodic intonation - use rhythmic speaking patterns
#3) easy onset - ease into words instead of creating a "hard start"
#4) understanding the difference between "smooth" and "bumpy" speech
**REGULAR SPEECH HAS MILD DYSFLUENCIES**
Remember, repetition is key!
