This summer, pollution throughout the Mile High City reached new records for air quality, with 30 consecutive days of ozone alerts and overt smog.
A combination of high concentrations of ozone, gas pollutants, and wildfire smoke is deteriorating Denver’s air quality and making it hard for some individuals to breathe.
“In a city like Denver that continues to grow, many people in the country want to live here now,” said Lupita Montoya, a research affiliate for the University of Colorado Boulder. “We see more cars, we see more industry, and these are literally sources of pollution.”
