The economy is likely to get even worse over the next few years as the US takes on more debt and pays more for it. Experts think that the US economy is going in the same direction as Japan's, which has a debt-to-GDP ratio of 260% and is about to face a national debt crisis. Alasdair Macleod, a well-known precious metals expert and head of Research at Goldmoney, is sure that returning to a gold standard is the only way to keep the world's financial system from collapsing into a huge mess where many people will lose everything.

With this choice, Putin would be pushing for Russia and its partners to go back to using gold as money. These are the 25 countries that have officially applied to join BRICS+, the other ten BRICS+ countries, and members of other alliances that are connected to BRICS+, such as the Belt Road Initiative, the Eurasian Economic Union, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Alasdair also says that if such a large group of countries switch to a gold standard, the dollar will quickly lose its role as a global reserve currency, and the price of gold will go through the roof.
