Opportunities for early learning (also known as stimulation) are essential for infants and children. They are opportunities for a child to interact with a person, a place, or object in their environment. Every interaction is contributing to the child’s brain development and is part of laying the foundation for later learning.
Children all over the world need 5 important building blocks in order for effective brain development. This is captured in what is known as the Nurturing Care Framework, as outlined by the World Health Organisation ([ Ссылка ]). Of all the building blocks described in the Nurturing Care Framework, Stimulation is fun and involves play. But this is ‘serious play’ in that it is building brains as you interact with baby.
This is a recording of a Lunchtime Conversation, hosted by Sikunye, exploring ways in which we can be strengthening families to consistently provide stimulation and opportunities for early learning.
