Hulusi Akar, Turkey's defense minister, claimed early Monday that Turkey has begun a land and air cross-border attack against Kurdish insurgents in northern Iraq.
In a video broadcast on the Turkish Ministry of Defense's website, Turkish planes and artillery pounded Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) targets before commandos, aided by helicopters and drones, moved into the neighboring territory by land or were flown by helicopter.
According to Mr Akar, the PKK's bunkers, caves, tunnels, ammo dumps, and headquarters were "successfully" hit by the planes.
Turkey has been targeted by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) from its camps in northern Iraq.
Terrorist attacks would be prevented by Operation Claw Lock, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Akar stated.
