The purpose of this movement is to mobilize your thoracic spine into extension. Work along the entire length of the thoracic spine unless advised otherwise. Place the foam roller on the ground. Lay backwards so that your spine rests on the foam roller. Keeping a neutral lumbar spine, lower down over top of the foam roller and allow your thoracic spine to extend over top of the foam roller. The key to this movement is to ensure that no movement happens at the lumbar spine and that all extension is performed through the thoracic spine. The mobilization can be progress in intensity from having the arms across the chest, to laced behind the neck, to arms overhead.
