Here’s NFL pro Keith Smith on 9 squat variations I use with my athletes. Notice the 90 degree eccentric isometric used as this maximizes motor unit recruitment, number of cross bridges, & muscle activation. That means more muscle growth, strength, & joint health. ZERO benefit of going deeper unless you’re a competitive Olympic weightlifter or powerlifter.

If the BOSU squat seems dangerous to you it’s likely because you’re incapable of performing it due to poor training & faulty biomechanics. Therefore your body is telling your mind that it’s dangerous because for you, it probably is due to various compensation patterns & muscle dysfunction. Eliminate those imbalances & this squat will seem exponentially more feasible for you.
