Lizzie was confronted by the Muslim convert Paul Williams on Sunday, calling her a Nazi, and an Islamophobe, as well as an extremist and a hate monger, all because she wrote a blog asking serious questions concerning why the Qur'an demands that women wear the hijab (or niqab, or purdah, or chador) in Sura 33:59.
As a woman she wondered why Westerners wanted to ban the hijab in public places without first asking the deeper questions concerning why the hijab was required in the first place. This was the jist of her blog, and certainly the theme of her talk with Jay Smith on the ladder immediately before this confrontation with Paul Williams.
You will see in this video that when Lizzie asks Paul to support his accusations and come up with one example of her supposed hatred, he cannot, but continues claiming that it was attitudes like her which the Nazis used against Jews in Germany.
It seems that whenever Christians from Pfander question the Qur'an, or Muhammad, or Allah, they are called these names by almost every Muslim who hears them. Rather than deal with the criticism of their religion, they take everything personally, and view it as a personal hate crime against themselves.
It's fascinating how they can then turn around and attack vociferously the Bible, and Jesus Christ (Paul's favourite theme at the corner for years), yet no Christian takes it personally, nor has there ever been a Christian who deems such criticism hateful, nor considers them Nazis. In fact there is no term such as 'Christophobic' in the English language. Because we just don't feel threatened by their criticisms.
And the reason? Because our Lord Jesus Christ can take any criticism, and has been for the past 2,000 years. The same can be said about our Bible.
The way Christians deal with criticism of their Lord and of their revelation is truly a model, which Muslims like Paul Williams could learn from, and maybe even emulate.
