How to use pick scrapes in Djent and modern metal guitar riffs. In this video I instruct you on my personal techniques on how you can implement “pick scrapes” or “rakes” into your heavy guitar playing. I teach you 3 methods that I like to use. This style of guitar playing is going to be more prominent in the drop tuned progressive metal guitarist community. I have noticed several bands using this technique in a way that sounds very technical. You don’t need expensive software and years of recording/mixing experience to add cool sounds and transitions into your songs. Plus it’s just super cool to see someone use it! It looks sick!
I wrote an original riff using this method in Drop E on my Agile 8 String guitar. If you are curious about my heavy tone for the rhythm guitars feel free to leave a comment and I would be glad to help you in forging a tone similar to this one ;)

This style of playing is going to be very big in the genres of Metalcore, Deathcore, “ Djent ” Hahahahha it’s not a genre but everyone pretty much uses the word like it is so why not, (I’m sure someone will get mad about that... I don’t care ) and Progressive Metal!
