Corydoras breeding tank setup is super easy! You want large leaf plants for the eggs. Adequate filtration. Hiding spots. Sand Substrate. Along with some patience. Corydoras breed on their own time. This is typically started with high protein diet followed by a cold water top off or small water change to replicate temperature change of a rain storm.
This setup will work for most corydoras. Personally I will be adding some moss of some sort for the fry to hide in. Most likely I will be pulling the eggs and adding them to a tumbler until they hatch then adding them to a separate tank to grow up a bit before re-adding to the corydoras breeding tank.
I may also change species to breed in the near future as well. Corydoras are one of my favorite fish by far.
They remind me of little spaceships. They're super adorable looking and when they're full of energy they're a joy to watch. The breeding behavior changes based on corydoras species. Although the tank setup is very similar for each species. Some species prefer particular temperatures to encourage breeding. For example sterbai corydoras prefer warmer temperatures where as bronze corydoras prefer colder water.
Corydoras are also a super easy to care for and breed fish as well. The main thing is patience. Play around trying different foods and different temperatures to achieve a perfect breeding balance. Live foods are a great way to encourage breeding as well.
As far as tank setup goes, corydoras are fairly simple needing sand substrate to sift through for food. They also prefer large leaf plants to lay eggs on. Some species prefer to lay in breeding mops and moss clumps. Others will openly lay them all over the aquarium glass.
This makes corydoras breeding very unique.
I hope you enjoyed this video as well as learned a little something you maybe didn't about setting up a corydoras breeding tank.
Thank You!!
