'The Forgotten Angel of Bastogne'a documentary film about Augusta Chiwy, a black nurse who saved countless American lives in December 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge. She has been made a Knight of the Realm by the King of Belgium and has received the highest award the U S Army can give to a civilian. Her story is one of personal courage and heroism.
Augusta's story has gained international media coverage by CNN, FOX, NPR and the BBC. Her story is timeless as it describes individual courage in the face of great danger. It is timely as 2014 marks the 70th Anniversary of the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge.
But this isn't a film for military audiences alone. It is the story of a woman who demonstrated unselfish service. It is a story within a story about caring for others irrespective of age, gender or ethnicity. Care has no colour, courage has no creed.
