PRETTY FLOWER - He had continued to drown further in, locked up in his room, surrounded by nothing but his thoughts. The last thing he had ate, drank rather, was a cup of coffee, and even that was 2 days ago. There's a sudden knock at his door, "hey is anyone home" is stated by feminine voice. He hadn't had human contact in a couple days, but he still reaches for the doorknobs and decides to open the door to see who had come to visit him. It was a pale skinned woman with a hijab on, but most importantly, it wasn't someone he knew. A stranger. "Why would a stranger come to visit someone like me" he thinks as his suspicion grows, but without him saying any words, she quickly gives him an answer to his questions, she tells him she's moving in next door and since she's going to be living alone, she wanted to get to know her neighbors in order to feel safer and more settled in. "My name is Milena" she says as she introduces herself to the man, "what yours?". "Oh, my name's uh...uh...i don't know?" the man says confused, weirdly he can't seem to remember his own name. Milena laughs it off thinking it's just a nervous guy trying to make a joke. She says her farewells and continues to go and introduce herself to more people in the apartment. Only a day has passed, but he can't seem to shake this desire to talk to her again. He feels as though there's something different about her, well for one, she's the first girl he's seen that's covered up fully considering the places he's usually in. But it wasn't that, I mean he didn't even find the girl very pretty, yet he continued to think about her, it felt as though she was a step into the path of redeeming himself somehow. *knocking sound*, he smiled, and eagerly reached for the doorknob, as he hoped, it was her. She came to ask for some cooking ingredients, of course, the man didn't have any since he used to out every moment of the day and sometimes even night, she noticed quickly that his room was practically empty except a mattress and a laptop. She felt bad for the man, so she offered him to have dinner at her place with a couple of other people she had already invited. "I'm not sure, I might have things to do" he says, Milena glanced at his room and then looked at him with a raised eyebrow making it obvious she could he had nothing to do. They both chuckled, "It'll be at 8 ok?" Milena says while still laughing, "Yeah" he says while admiring her smile. Her smile represented joy, she was happy, and for some reason, her smiling made him feel better as well. A few hours had passed, he spent those hours making sure he didn't smell like liquor or green and trying to find something suitable to wear for an occasion like this. Ended up wearing a over sized tee shirt and a pair of baggy cargos, when he arrived to Milena's door, he was greeted with that smile once again. Not much conversation occurred between since she had invited so many others as well; however, having a proper dinner with people made him feel as though he was part of a family. It was a warmth he hadn't felt in a very long time. After that night, he would keep thinking of reasons that would allow him to visit Milena, They talked about many things, well, saying they would be wrong, it was usually Milena doing most of the talking, but that didn't bother the man in the slightest. Talking to her made his worries fade; however, he's wise enough to know he can't jus leave everything he did in this life in the past, once they got more comfortable, the man confessed to Milena all he had done, but why her? why does he need to confess to a random girl he only met a few weeks ago, He didn't know why himself, only thing he knew was that feeling that she would be the path to his redemption. "Do you see me differently now?" the man asks worriedly , "yes" Milena replies blunt, "I see" he says with his voice filled with disappointment, "but i don't believe you're a bad person" Shes reassures him, "but you definitely need therapy" she says
jokingly.
