Ever hurt yourself with matches? Blame The British!
This is the first in a series of tongue in cheek videos I’m making titled ‘Blame The British’
Celebrating Great British inventions.
Here, I talk about the invention of matches in 1827 by a chap called John Walker from Stockton On Tees in the north east of England. Even though John Walker could have made a fortune from his invention, he decided not too. He said that the world deserved to have access to immediate fire and so he allowed anyone in the world to use his recipe, his ingredients and his design to make matches.
You could of course blame John Walker and the British then for every arson attack involving matches since 1827…it’s seems fashionable to blame the British for a lot of things, so why not this!?
More videos coming up where I’ll tell you about other British inventions that changed the world for the better…but, just to be bang on trend, I’ll give you a couple of reasons to blame the British for great harm in inventing something that improved billions of lives around the world!
Cheers,
David
