This is an animation of the images captured during my recent PET scan. The first clip would be a view looking from my feet toward my head, but starting at the head and going down to my mid-thigh. My back would be at the bottom of the frame. There is a key at the bottom left that shows which slice of my body is being represented in the main graphic.
The second image is one complete rotation of my body viewed as if upright. The point of the scan was to detect any cancer cells. A radioactive glucose was introduced via IV about an hour before and the idea was that hyper metabolic cells would use glucose faster and the scan would light up any fast metabolizing cells. This would indicate an injury or cancer, both of which would have a high rate of cell activity. The two areas that did light up were the brain, which is always active (hopefully) and my large intestine, which shows the boiled egg I was allowed to eat at 5 AM (the scan was at noon). Also the red shape at the bottom of the frame in this clip show a partially full bladder (I didn't tell the doctor about the beer I washed the egg down with at 5AM........just kidding).
Anyway, this scan shows no abnormalities.
