Learn how to use fixative spray on soft pastels & how to prevent your drawing from smudging (almost). In this video, I will show you how to use fixative spray with soft pastels & how it impacts the artwork.

Soft pastel fixatives come in spray can & there are two pastel fixative techniques. Fixative is applied on the drawing after it is complete or while you are still working on the drawing (workable fixatives). You will learn how to apply fixative spray to drawing & if you should do it in the first place.

While fixative does protect your drawing, it does change colors, making them darker, and does not prevent from smudging 100%, so it is always best to frame your work behind glass or keep it stored, covered with glassine paper.
