Donald Trump has once again referred to Covid-19 as “kung flu”, despite widespread criticism that the phrase is racist.
The president used the term—which references the fact that the coronavirus originated in China—during a rally in Arizona, to cheers and applause from supporters.
Criticising the fact that there are a number of names for the virus, Mr Trump said: “Coronavirus, right? Kung Flu, yes? Kung Flu. Yes, Kung Flu.”
It comes after White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany defended the president’s repeated use of the term at press conference on Monday.
