Changing wardrobe from winter to summer is not the only problem for this particular spring season. We are not only changing from winter to summer but also from indoors comfort-wear to smart casual or smart dress code.

Vogue magazine have made their trend forecast with this in mind. Fashion always reflects the general feel and mood of the public. Many of us have probably discovered new emotions that didn’t used to be on the plate before.

Peter and I are eager to unwrap seven fashion trends to show you how each trend can be adapted for evening wear, smart casual or cocktail event.

First lucky pick is Monochrome magic. It’s one of the most popular and easy-to-wear trends. Black is always a safe colour. Little black dress or black hoodie on days when you have to go out but don’t really want to.

Monochrome evening gown is created from embroidered tulle with black cording and embroidered flower appliqué. To accentuate the waistline and monochrome dynamic, designer combines cream and black mikado silk. Finishing touch is rippling effect of embroidered flower trim.

Out of several monochrome options smart casual look was created using printed linen. White background and black crisscross is beautifully paired with light blue houndstooth bows. Feminine and practical look for warm summer days and evenings. If you love the print there’s also an option of silk twill printed in same graphic design. Pair it with plain grainy charcoal and cream wool with little bit of stretch for that extra comfort.

Last question in the episode opens the discussion of origins of monochrome trend. Everything comes from somewhere and most often it is more than one source. With confidence Peter draw the connection between art and fashion calling British artist Bridget Riley as in e of the original Op Art practitioners who executed the optical illustrious black and white lines and shapes. There is also a reference to Grand Prix black and white check flag and British youth culture of 80s.

I surprised myself when I realised that Marc Jacobs collection for Louis Vuitton was in 2013, that’s 8 years ago. This colourful Grand Prix flag inspired collection was so talked about it has stayed in my memory as of it only happened yesterday.
