Bosnian government officials and internationals envoys welcomed on Tuesday (6/8) a breakthrough agreement signed by Bosnian Croats and Moslems to form a joint city council in the divided city of Mostar. The row over the outcome of recent elections in Mostar had threatened to scupper Bosnia's September elections.

SOT: Vice President Ejup Ganic, saying the acceptance of the election by the Croats is a very good sign and he is very pleased the EU pushed for results because there was a danger that if the results of the elections were not accepted it would be the end of everything;

SOT: Ambassador Robert Frowick saying there is a positive psychological impact and he was concerned that if the situation in Mostar remained unravelled we would have a situation where parties would reject results and it would be chaotic.
