Cooking perfect rice is simple if you have a few tips.
1.) Rinse your rice
2.) Don't peek
3.) allow it to steam for 10 minutes after you cut the flame
That's it.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup basmati long grain rice, preferably Indian
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon butter (optional) a bay leaf, a clove, a small piece of cinnamon and 3 cardamon pods make a wonderful slightly spiced rice that's great with Asian food.
DIRECTIONS
Rinse the rice until the water runs clear.Bring the water, salt and butter to a boil in a small pan with a tight fitting lid.
Add the rice and bring the water back to a boil. Immediately cover and reduce the heat to low. Cook 10 minutes. DO NOT PEEK. Do not lift the lid, don't even look at it. After 10 minutes, turn off the burner and leave the rice for 10 more minutes, without lifting the lid.
Fluff with a fork and serve.
