For 2025, the Honda Passport is set to undergo a complete overhaul, marking a significant update to the model that was reintroduced to Honda's lineup just over five years ago.
This is a summary of the information we have about the upcoming 2025 Honda Passport, which is essentially a two-row variation of the three-row Pilot SUV.
DESIGN
The current Passport could benefit from enhancements beyond just its age. Seek an upgraded design that mirrors the latest Pilot model. Once again, like in the past, the Passport is anticipated to closely resemble the Pilot from the rear wheels to the front.
The Passport will have a similar wheelbase as before, but its overall length will be shorter, as it won't need to accommodate a third row of seats, which is the Pilot's responsibility. This will result in a more compact design for the two-row Passport.
INTERIOR
For the 2025 model, the interior will undergo some enhancements, drawing inspiration from the Prologue and the latest Pilot. The Passport's dashboard will closely resemble the Pilot's, with a similar design and features, including a slightly smaller 9.0-inch touchscreen display.
OFF-ROAD PERFORMANCE
The existing Passport TrailSport is merely an interim solution that provides a few modest enhancements for off-road capability, including improved tires for driving on dirt roads and a slight lift in suspension. A more comprehensive off-road upgrade is planned for the next generation of the Passport, similar to the one being developed for the Pilot.
The 2025 Passport TrailSport is expected to greatly improve as it adopts a new chassis and electronics package, similar to the enhancements seen in the most recent Pilot TrailSport.
While it may not transform into a direct competitor to the Jeep Wrangler off-road, this vehicle could definitely compete with other two-row SUVs and wagons that offer good dirt performance, such as the Grand Cherokee, Kia Sorento X-Pro, and Subaru Outback Wilderness.
ENGINE
Similar to the Pilot, do not anticipate the sudden emergence of a hybrid model for the Passport, even with its redesign.
It would be great to have a hybrid choice for this new chassis, or even an improved variation of the Accord sedan's 2.0-liter I-4 engine with stronger motors for about 290 pound-feet of torque and an electric-only driving mode, but it is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
