I travel often but lived in USA my entire life.
South Florida to be exact.
Now I'm in Buenos Aires Argentina.
People often ask me how much it costs to live here. So instead of giving you my opinion.
I want to share the actual price of grocery items. You eat every day don't you? We all eat a few times a day. So aside our housing costs to rent an apartment, our biggest spending will come from what we eat.
There's tons of inflation in this country so items often go up in price.
As does the U$D (United States $1 currency)
Early last year (2022) $1 usd got you 200 Argentine Pesos.
Today you get more pesos per dollar.
As of March 21, 2023 you get 394 pesos every dollar.
Find a Google currency converter to find out how many pesos you get per pound or Euro.
Just google Dollar blue Argentina or remove the word dollar and replace with the name of your currency.
Living in Miami most of my life.
Living comfortably became very hard for me ever since the pandemic started.
Not only because my employer laid off tons of people, including myself.
But I found myself jobless and with costs of living skyrocketing. Price of homes and rentals went up over 100% or more.
Gasoline and grocery shopping almost just as much.
Going out to dinner was a nail biting experience from how expensive it became in Florida.
Honestly it's all over the states.
There's millions of places in USA where you would spend over $20 just for a simple meal.
I'm talking about bar food. Tons of bars all over the US that charge over $8-$15 for a drink.
My culture was to always leave 20-25% tip.
Although the unwritten rule in the US is to tip 15%, my friends and I would always leave more.
15% was only when the service was extremely bad, even then we would tip.
What I usually spend on tips in the States can get me an entire meal including tip here in Argentina.
Going out to eat a bite or a burger will run you from $3-$6 usually.
Dinner with a drink from $10-15
A fancy restaurant with wine and dessert may be $20-$30
Obviously I'm using the dólar blue conversion.
That means you get more than the official rate.
But as I explained in my other videos it is easy to get using Western Union, Remitly, or crypto to get the most pesos for your dollars.
Or just bring new $100 bills and go to a c"asa de cambio" and you'll get the best exchange rate available.
