I measured the width of the wall first. Then deducted the width of the vertical panels. My wall was 301cm and I did all the panels 10cm wide. I wanted to do 5 panels going up vertically so I deducted this from 301 to give me the total amount I would need to go horizontally. As I was doing 4 squares I divided this figure by 4 to give me the smaller lengths. Make sure you measure this thoroughly. I must have done this about 17 times to be sure.
You could get a full length for the bottom and top however the biggest piece of mdf they had in b&q was 240cm so wasn’t big enough to my wall but that would have been even quicker.
