Dr. Tom Insel is a neuroscientist, psychiatrist, entrepreneur, and author. From 2002-2015, Dr. Insel served as Director of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) committed to research on mental disorders. In 2019, he was appointed as the “Mental Health Tzar of California” by Governor Newsom.
Dr. Insel discussed the “State of the State” of youth mental health in California and his newly published book: Healing: Our Path from Mental Illness to Mental Health in his keynote address at the AIM Scientific Symposium.
