Check out this time-lapse video of NAIT’s new state-of-the-art Crawler crane being assembled for apprentices in the crane and hoisting apprenticeship program. The 85 ton Kobelco Crawler was built at Kobe Steel in Japan. It took 24 days on a ship to arrive in Galveston Texas, five days on four trucks to get to Edmonton and two days of building at NAIT’s Nisku crane training yard.
With a user-friendly, on-board computer system and state-of-the-art hydraulics, the new crane will allow close to 300 NAIT apprentices to train on the Crawler cranes currently used in industry.
