England footballer Jack Grealish has been banned from driving for nine months and fined £82,499 after crashing his high-powered Range Rover during March’s Covid-19 lockdown, while wearing mis-matched slippers.
The 25-year-old Aston Villa captain was said to have been slurring his words and smelling of “intoxicating liquor” when he hit two parked cars in Solihull on March 29.
Birmingham magistrates court today heard Grealish is “deeply ashamed” of the incident, which came less than 24 hours after he had posted a Twitter video urging his fans to follow government rules and stay at home.
Grealish pleaded guilty to careless driving and also admitted driving at high speeds and close to another vehicle on his way to Villa’s training ground on October 18.
